Realphones 2: Osinsky Studio Extra review
Osinsky Studio is an addon for Realphones 2, featuring 12 monitoring modes for a wide range of tasks: from tracking and editing to mixing and mastering.

Osinsky Studio Extra is the third addon set, offering the custom mastering system for finalizing tracks and the "Room 77," equipped with JBL speakers. This space in the studio complex is mainly used for editing, premixing, and film and video production.

The number 77 in its name is not coincidental. Originally, it referred to the room’s code on the building’s’s floor plan, assigned even before the studio construction began. Today, "Room 77" is more than just a number — it has become a symbol of the Osinsky Studio’s unique creative atmosphere.
1️⃣Osinsky Extra - 77 Cntr
77 Cntr emulates a mono JBL 4312 speaker positioned centrally in front of the sound engineer.

Since JBL speakers are widely used in cinemas around the world, the studio chose this brand’s monitors for the room. JBL 4312 are legendary three-way monitors, continuing the legacy of the iconic 43 series designed for professional studio use.

This configuration, with a focus on midrange, is particularly effective for balancing instruments and vocals, as well as for working on dialogues and music in films. Additionally, it’san excellent tool to check mono compatibility while maintaining a full low-frequency range and detailed sound.

77 Cntr highlights issues in the mix. If the vocals seem lost, their level likely needs to be increased. It’s also useful for setting kick and bass sidechain compression and vocal dynamics.

This emulation helps “reset” your hearing — switching to it refreshes your perception of the mix while maintaining its integrity without cutting low frequencies.
2️⃣Osinsky Extra - 77 Main
77 Main offers the widest soundstage among all Osinsky Studio rooms. It excels at reproducing spatial effects, enabling precise adjustments even without solo listening.

The acoustics allow reflections and effects to be distinctly heard in recordings. It makes these monitors great for identifying issues with “tails” that disrupt the groove.

The room emphasizes low frequencies and midrange, allowing engineers to detect muddy or booming bass and similar issues. Because it accentuates problem areas in the mix, the emulation is ideal for adjusting balances, vocals, sibilance, and controlling the decay time of reverbs and delays.

While 77 Main may not be a universal tool, its unique characteristics make it indispensable for controlling sub-bass, groove, and spatial effects. It offers an "alternative perspective" on the mix that complements more neutral monitoring and is useful for creating raw mixes.
3️⃣Osinsky Extra - Master
Master emulates the custom-built three-way mastering system with a Focal subwoofer, installed in the Osinsky Small room. These speakers deliver bright and detailed sound.

For studio owner, this is the second most important monitoring pair, used in the final stages of mixing and mastering. It’s one of the most expressive emulations in the set, emphasizing tonal clarity and high frequencies.

Ribbon tweeters provide a precise, holographic soundstage, revealing the subtlest nuances. The monitors deliver exceptional dynamics and tonal balance, creating ideal conditions for mastering. Due to the room’s acoustics, frequencies below 40 Hz are attenuated, allowing for an even greater focus on the upper part of the spectrum.

This emulation is perfect for evaluating timbre naturalness, high-frequency balance, and the overall mix. Its transparent and open sound helps you perceive the mix as a finished musical product, identify elements that need refinement, and uncover hidden issues in the lower midrange.

The sound is particularly effective for reference listening, enabling you to analyze how mix elements interact before switching to another monitor system for deeper work. Use this emulation in the final stages to check the mix and ensure its cohesive sound.
4️⃣Summary
Osinsky Studio Extra is a set of emulations combining tools for film production and mastering.

77 Cntr focuses on vocals, midrange, and mono compatibility, while 77 Main excels for checking spatial effects, groove, and low-frequency balance.

The mastering system allows you to finalize the mix and evaluate timbres, high frequencies, and the overall track. Osinsky Extra seamlessly integrates with other Osinsky Studio addon sets, further expanding their capabilities.
